Welcome to Orlando
A celebration of life in sunny, central Florida.
Located in the scenic heart of central Florida, Orlando is a central point of celebration in the Sunshine State. Home to over a dozen theme parks, Orlando is by far best known as the home of Walt Disney World, consisting of Epcot, Magic Kingdom Park, several water parks, resorts, and many more. Nearby, Universal Orlando hosts Universal Studios and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Homes throughout Orlando are situated along tree-lined streets, providing a canopy of lush scenery to be admired in the solace of comfortable year-round temperatures.
Originally a native Seminole settlement, Orlando’s first settler arrived in 1842. The city grew from four streets and a courthouse square to the hub of Florida’s citrus industry by the end of the 19th century. Expansion occurred in bursts throughout the 20th century, with the opening of Walt Disney World undoubtedly being the most significant catalyst in growth. Today, Orlando is home to the largest number of entertainment attractions and theme parks in the world.

Warm weather year round provides ample opportunities for outdoor recreation, strolls through open air shopping malls and delicious meals enjoyed alfresco. Locals can also observe native Floridian wildlife like alligators, aboriginal birds, and flamingos at one of the many nearby preserves or zoos. Cooling off with an ice cold local brew served alongside fresh seafood is a popular way to enjoy a special occasion or just another day in paradise.
Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping
Orlando is home to a great number of locally owned establishments, all with their own unique methods to stay cool on warm Florida days. From midmorning delights to end of week celebrations, there are endless ways to sip and sample this stunning city.
In the heart of downtown Orlando, Bynx is a newer option for caffeinated specialties, open all day long. A plentiful variety of dairy free alternatives and ample seating have made Bynx a favorite among those requiring an extra kick in the early morning, or remote workers needing to get out of the house for a bit. Later in the day, Rockpit Brewing is a popular spot to try out a rotating selection of locally crafted brews. Their ever changing lineup includes several offerings sprinkled with citrus, a light and easy favorite in Florida’s tropical climate.
New American cuisine with modern, southern flair is especially favored, particularly around brunch time. The Stubborn Mule is a favorite choice among locals specializing in just this. An expansive drink menu includes a variety of jazzed up Moscow mules, which pair well with top selling dishes like French toast or steak and eggs.
Of course, Orlando is best known for its high number of theme parks. Walt Disney World, first opened in 1971, covers nearly 25,000 acres and consists of four theme parks, two waterparks, 36 hotels, several golf courses, shopping, camping grounds, and more. Beyond the parks, Orlando is home to several gardens, such as the Bok Tower Gardens. One of Florida’s best kept secrets is a National Historic Landmark consisting of over 700 acres of trails, citrus groves, gardens, and rare, endangered plants.
Locals enjoy taking advantage of comfortable temperatures year round and strolling the streets of Orlando’s many outdoor shopping plazas. One favorite option can be found at the Orlando Outlet Marketplace, where patrons can shop top brands at great discounts any time of year. The Florida Mall, Central Florida’s favorite shopping destination, is another alternative featuring over 250 stores, both indoors and outdoors.
